The time of year of leaf drop on deciduous trees varies. Some evergreen trees have periods of heavy leaf (or needle) drop.Whereas deciduous trees lose their leaves each year, evergreens may take several years to shed their foliage. Many of the oak species found in Rim Country will lose their leaves in the spring, just as new growth begins in the spring for other trees. Some evergreens may drop some foliage all year. If a tree is stressed, leaf drop will be earlier and heavier than normal, and leaf color may be more intense. Most deciduous trees will lose their leaves in autumn. Leaf drop may be hastened by an early frost or if the tree is stressed.
